Description

Norfolk's zoo might be modest in size but that makes the experience all the more intimate. Watch the tiger slink through bamboo thicket and the lions pace in a sprawling open area separated only by water from a grazing herd of zebra and the resident rhino. Enjoy a face to face encounter with a giraffe from an elevated platform, play at life as a prairie dog and feed the shaggy sheep in the hands-on exhibits by the reptile hall as you make your way around this well-kept zoological park. When you're too tired to walk any farther, hop the Virginia Zoo Train and steam past exhibits from the comfort of your seat - keep an eye out for the red panda as you chug along the 3/4 mile-long track.
