Description

As the official visitor center for both Langley Air Force Base and NASA Langley Research Center you can bet there's an emphasis on rocket science and flying machines at the Virginia Air & Space Center. You may never make it to the moon but you can at least get a close look at the Apollo 12 Command Module (which orbited around the moon), see what NASA is cooking up for space travel in the Future of Flight exhibit and test your skills at controlling a Mars Rover (amongst many other things) as you tour this expansive facility. Featured planes and equipment range from Kitty Hawk-era gliders to the Lunar Landing Simulator used to prepare early astronauts for moon travel. Round out your visit with a feature film in the associated IMAX theater. Self-guided tours can be downloaded from the center's website.
