Set serenely atop a gentle hill, the recently restored historic home of President James Madison is befitting of an American founding father, plain, yet well-planned. Visitors to the site can wander Dolly Madison's formal gardens, enjoy a guided tour of the home itself and learn more about the lengthy process of restoration over the course of an introductory lecture. Children and adults alike will enjoy the chance to try a hand at making period products at tents set up just outside the Madison home, and can get a glimpse of what life was like under Dupont ownership in the Visitor Center's galleries. Head down the hill for access to the Slave Cemetary and the Madison Family Cemetary.
