Warwick Plantation, in Hidden Valley, is a visual treat. The plantation house, Warwickton, was built in the late 1840s by Judge James Woods Warwick, whose grandfather purchased the land in 1788. This large brick house features massive Greek Ionic columns, hipped roof and four interior end chimneys. It passed from the Warwick family in the late 1800s. After several ownerships and a period of vacancy, deterioration set in. In 1965, the plantation and house were acquired by the Forest Service. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Restoration began in 1990. Today, Warwickton is largely restored and houses a bed-and-breakfast inn under permit from the Forest Service. Lodging is offered.

The Poor Farm was named for the home operated last century by the Commonwealth of Virginia for needy people. The Poor Farm is located at the north end of Hidden Valley and is accessible by walking forest trial 481 for 4 miles. Vehicle access is available from Warm Springs by traveling north on Route 220 for 9.5 miles and turning left onto State Route 623. Travel 2.3 miles to the Poor Farm.
