Winchester Travel Information

Motel 6 Virginia

Winchester, perched at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley, is a historic town packed with Civil War history surrounded by acres of apple orchards. Many visitors begin their tour with a walk through Old Town Winchester, 45 historic square blocks of buildings on the National Register as well as sidewalk cafes, galleries and the Court House Civil War Museum.

History-rich Winchester includes Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters, George Washington’s Office Museum and Abram’s Delight, site of the city’s first Quaker meetinghouse. Winchester is also known for its festivals including the Apple Blossom Festival and Hot Air Balloon Festival in October.

Winchester is located 72 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. on US 11 off I-81.
